EADAR DÙIL IS DÒCHAS : FOOTBALL CRAZY

Thursday 31 March, 9pm on BBC ALBA

Eadar Dùil is Dòchas : Football Crazy gets under the skin of the Scottish football fan to try to find out just why they are quite so crazy about the game.

In a new BBC ALBA documentary Football Crazy, to be broadcast on Thursday 31 March, we meet some of the country’s most devoted fans from the top SPL clubs to community teams, and explore their passion for the sport as the cameras follow them on supporters’ buses, on the terraces and in their local pubs.

Ross County fan Kenneth Mackenzie from Dingwall travels to Glasgow for both the 2010 Scottish Cup semi final (10th April) and final (15 May 2010) at Hampden. Kenneth’s emotions on the terrace run high and low during his team’s win over Celtic and their defeat to Dundee United in the final.

The programme hears from Ness FC gaolie, Donald MacSween, who’s also an enthusiastic Scotland supporter, and join him for the Scotland v Czech Republic match at Hampden on 3 March 2010. The cameras also catch Donald in action during a Ness v Carloway Highland Amateur Cup match game at Fivepenny Park in Lewis on 7 May 2010.

The much anticipated Old Firm derby is a key date in the diary for every Scottish football fan and Football Crazy features Celtic fan and Southend goalie Neil MacPhee from South Uist as he watches an Old Firm match on 4 May 2010 in his local pub. Viewers also get the chance to see Neil in goals at Goathill Park, Stornoway as his team played Stornoway Utd on 8 May 2010.

Football pundits Alex O'Henley and Derek 'Pluto' Murray, share some stories from behind the microphone, and we hear from Rangers fan and curry king, Satty Singh from Glasgow on the lengths to which he has gone to demonstrate his love for the game - naming his sons after football players despite protests from his family!

Produced for BBC ALBA by Patricia Macleod of Aberdeen-based Midas Media, Eadar Dùil is Dòchas : Football Crazy will be broadcast on Thursday 31 March at 9pm and again on Monday 4 April at 10.30pm
