BBC Alba Programme Highlights Saturday 12 May – Friday 18 May

Date: Saturday 12 May – Friday 18 May 2012 Title: SPL St Johnstone v Rangers ‘As-live’ action from the final round of the 2011/2012 SPL season as St Johnstone host Rangers at McDiarmid Park, Perth. Rangers remain clear in second place but the match will be important for St Johnstone as they chase a possible European spot for next season. However, Steve Lomas’ side will need to improve their record against the Ibrox men having only taken one point from a possible nine during this campaign. The first meeting of the sides was in July when goals from Steven Naismith and Nikica Jelavic gave Rangers a 2-0 victory. Ibrox hosted the next encounter, a 0-0 draw in November. However, the most recent match saw more goals when Rangers recored a 2-1 win in Perth. Nikica Jelavic hit both of Rangers’ goals with St Johnstone’s consolation coming through a Carlos Bocanegra own goal. The initial spark though quickly grew in to a fashion show idea like no other - a project that captured the imagination of all generations. 'Na mo chuid aodaich' brought forgotten clothing and their stories back out into the public eye. Following the initial five hugely successful shows in Lewis in 2009, we now catch up with the project as it embarks on the next exciting chapter in late 2011, with the communities of Glasgow and Skye each having an opportunity to host their own unique shows. Using vintage clothing from attics, closets and bottom drawers and modelled by members of the local community, audiences will once again be enthralled with this remarkable fusion of community, people, history and fashion. Each evening promises a highly entertaining mix of drama, fashion and music and to date over 2000 people have attended these unique events, raising £18,000 for charity, with more events planned in 2012 and beyond. A story about fashion, history and people - young and old, as a remarkable community project takes to the road.
