Borneo and Palau Expedition 2009
June 10th, 2009 by borneoThe team of 9 students and 2 teachers are going on a 3 week expedition to Borneo and 1 week Palau on the 10th of June (Meeting up with the third adult Benny Lawrie)! During our time away we will be updating everything we do by putting pictures, videos and personal feedback hopefully on a daily basis.
Group Departing Islay
9th of June Tuesday– Today were the final stages of our preparation, we had Will (Will from Outlook Expeditions) making us aware of our budget, itinerary and equipment. We have now packed and are ready to go! We are leaving on the 6:20pm plane tomorrow, then staying the night in Glasgow in a travel lodge. We will arrive in Palau on Friday!
10th of June Wednesday – We made it off Islay safely arriving at Glasgow Airport, we then took the 747 bus to the Travel Lodge in Braehead. Mr Harrison and Mr Park split the group money up into 11 different piles, each student got around £750 each. For dinner we decided that “Frankie’s and Bernie’s” in Xscape would be the best, the food was excellent ranging from 15” Pizzas (which ended in a competition to see who could finish all of the Pizza, Alfie Perring won) to pasta. The group decided that dessert was too much! We then set off in different groups doing different things (Bowling and the Arcade room). That was the end of our night, we went back to the hotel and got a good night sleep, preparing us for the big flight’s tomorrow.
11th of June Thursday – Breakfast was in Sainsbury’s, The choice was either Full Scottish or Continental. The flight from Glasgow to London was very relaxed and quick, we then flew with Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong, the flight was very very boring, as it was was around 11 hours but with good food and drinks supplied regularly, It was a 747 Boeing, which is massive, but unfortunately packed with people!
12th of June Thursday - When we finally arrived in Hong Kong everyone was restless and tired at the same time, we got some food then exploring the shops. We had three hours to spare,so there was no rush. We went through security then went to the gate.
